So tonight was three rather large successes all in about a 3 hour period. First, I was awarded my first (and only) college varsity letter award for Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field. While my college career really focused on improving myself in the 800, it was extremely welcome to receive general recognition for my 3 years of grueling commitment from coach through a varsity letter.
I went immediately from the track banquet to setting up for comedian Steve Hofstetter. Sometime when I get up tomorrow I'm going to post a more thorough summary to our chapter website, but for the last 10 months I've been organizing the visit of a comedian, Steve Hofstetter, to our campus as a Pike philanthropy (for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America). I'd been really stressing over the final details of the show for the last few days and everything came together tonight with me opening the show at 8 PM. I introduced the opener, Denis Donohue, who performed for about 15 minutes before introducing Steve Hofstetter, who performed for about an hour. Overall the audience was great and Steve was really pleased with everything, as were all of the people I talked to who went. I'm really, really happy/relieved that everything went well, and it was pure gold to listen to everyone laughing and having a great time knowing that I'd committed tons of time and effort for them to enjoy themselves.
At the conclusion of the comedy show I was informed that our Intramural Frisbee team had defeated the only other remaining team to win the IM Frisbee championship for that division (unfortunately their game was scheduled for the exact same time as the comedian). This victory gave us enough IM points to hold a lock on the Overall Greek IM Championship.
6 PM - Awarded Track & Field Varsity Letter
8 PM - Opened the comedy show
9:15 PM - Closed the comedy show
